# Staking

Staking ensures the cryptoeconomic security of the network. This is done by requiring a base amount of ATH to be staked (deposited as collateral) for each device before it can earn rewards.

Participating in the Aethir Edge network and staking are essential aspects of the Aethir Edge ecosystem. By participating, users contribute their device's computing power to the network and earn rewards in the form of ATH tokens. Staking ATH is required to activate Edge devices and participate fully in the network.
