How to Bridge ETH for Gas Fees

PreviousHow to Bridge ATH for Edge Staking (ETH to ARB)NextHow to Bridge ATH for Selling/Staking (ARB to ETH)

Last updated 7 months ago

Since Edge devices require staking ATH on Arbitrum and rewards are given on Arbitrum, but the ATH token is largely traded on Ethereum, users must use a cross-chain bridge to move both tokens between these chains.

Note: if you can acquire ETH directly on the Arbitrum network, there is no need to do any bridging. Many exchanges allow withdrawing ETH on Arbitrum network, so be sure to check first and save yourself the hassle of bridging if it's available. Here's a list of the places you can .

Users can bridge ETH tokens from Ethereum network to Arbitrum network using the official Arbitrum Bridge , or using the Squid Router, as mentioned in the previous section.

Using the Arbitrum Bridge

To stake ATH on your Aethir Edge device, you will first need to acquire a small amount of ETH ($25 should be plenty) on the Ethereum Mainnet and then bridge it over to the Arbitrum network. This process involves a few steps:

  1. Connect Your Wallet:

    • Click on "Connect Wallet" and choose your preferred wallet provider (e.g., , WalletConnect).

  2. Select Networks:

    • Ensure "Ethereum" is selected as the source network.

    • Choose "Arbitrum One" as the destination network.

  3. Enter Amount:

    • Specify the amount of ETH you want to bridge over to Arbitrum One.

  4. Initiate Transfer:

    • Click on "Move funds to Arbitrum One" to start the bridging process.

  5. Confirm and Wait:

    • Review the transaction details, including gas fees, and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

    • The bridging process may take some time to complete. You can track its progress in the "Transaction History" section.

Once the transaction is finalized, the ETH you transferred will be available as ETH on the Arbitrum network and be ready to be sent to your Edge app wallet for staking.

Withdrawing from Exchanges Directly to Arbitrum

Many cryptocurrency exchanges now support withdrawals directly on the Arbitrum network. This can simplify the process of acquiring ETH on Arbitrum, as you can bypass the bridging step altogether.

Note: if you can withdraw ETH on the Arbitrum network, there is no need to do any bridging. Check your exchange's withdrawal options to see if Arbitrum is supported.
